Use WPtouch to Create Mobile WordPress Site

I’ve been using WordPress for my weblog for years now and just turned on a mobile version of the blog. The WordPress plugin WPtouch makes this very easy to do. It took about 5 minutes to get it up and running.

The WPtouch plugin automatically detects when the user is browsing  with a smartphone and implements the mobile interface. The user has the option of turning the mobile presentation off.

Highly recommended!

  1. Good morning, I have been using Blogger for about 2 years now and have been wanting to switch to wordpress seems like a much better program for blogging. Just not sure what all is involved in doing so?

  2. Mike, it has been so long since I switched over to WordPress, I don’t remember much about the change. I am using it on my own web site hosted by fatcow.com, so I had to get wordpress installed on that site. I suggest you start by looking at wordpress.org

  3. Mike, like Bob I’ve been using WordPress for a long time. I too use the self-hosted version of WordPress (which gives you a lot more control and flexibility than WordPress.com). I’m not sure if a blog at WordPress.com allows you to import from another blogging system. It’s free to sign up so it might be worth a look. The self-hosted version of WP does have an import plugin for Blogger; however, WP warned me that it hasn’t been tested with the current version. In fact, the plugin hasn’t been updated in about 9 months. WP has had a couple updates in that time. The plugin is supposed to “import posts, comments, and users from a Blogger blog” If Blogger has other features (e.g. tags and categories), you’ll lose that information.

FYI, WordPress.COM is for a web hosted account on using WordPresses system, and WordPress.ORG is where you download the software to install on your website.

  4. Thanks for the upgrade I like reading the blog but hated reading it on my phone.
